Fatima Juned is a researcher, writer, and photographer whose work focuses on themes related to gender, livelihoods, human rights, labour, and migration. Some of her works are on women’s rights (Hijab-ban in India), transgender population and digital healthcare accessibility, child labour in Jharkhand, minority population education rights, natural disasters and climate change. Her work was recently published in the Gender and Development Journal by Taylor and Francis on ‘Gendered identities and digital inequalities: an exploration of the lived realities of the transgender community in the Indian digital welfare state’. Fatima has worked with multiple organisations like the Sadbhavna trust, Society for Women’s Action and Training, Vanangana, Social and Policy Research Foundation, WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), Mental Health Foundation (India), and Teach for India. She was selected for the genDeralities fellowship from ReFrame to create a body of work on labour and gender, which was showcased at Mithibai College in Mumbai. Over the course of her career, her work has been published by First Post, India Ahead, Slurrp app, Youth ki Awaaz.
Fatima is an alumnus of Gargi College, University of Delhi, and Jamia Millia Islamia. In her free time, Fatima recites Urdu poetry as a vocal performance in public spaces which serves as a tool of resistance to raise awareness about numerous women's issues that persist in the patriarchal Indian society.
